Product Information

The Thermo Electron Corporation ETD Mass Spectrometry Accessory provides better analysis of proteins and their post-translational modifications (PTMs) using Electron Transfer Dissociation (ETD). This option induces fragmentation along the peptide backbone in a sequence-independent manner, leaving labile modifications linked to the peptide chain, greatly simplifying identification of modification sites. ETD is a supremely useful tool for the analysis of post-translationally modified proteins and can be added to many Thermo Scientific ion trap and Orbitrap mass spectrometers. The ETD preserves labile PTMs, allowing straightforward identification of the peptide sequence and the site of modification, with applications in top-down analysis, low-mass isobaric mass tag workflows, and combined with proton transfer reaction (PTR). Sold as-is, it requires connection to LTQ in order to work.
