The GE ImageQuant LAS-4000 Multi-Mode Imager is a robust digital imaging system used for gel or membrane samples or films. It utilizes epi or trans light on gels stained by EtBr, allowing for repeated, incremental, or programmed exposure schemes. The system is modular, employing a combination of light sources and filters for various techniques, including upgrading to an IR fluorescence capability. Its wide linear dynamic range avoids multiple film exposures by accurately quantitating weak and strong signals over 4 orders of magnitude. The F0.85 43 mm LAS high sensitivity lens with a 21 x 14 cm field of view and a 6.3-megapixel image resolution offers precise quantitation of weak signals. This imaging system is capable of quantitative Western blotting, UV fluorescence, and Infrared fluorescence. The robust ImageQuant LAS 4000 software guides users through programming focusing, filters, illuminators, and exposure time without the need to open the cabinet. With automated iris, quick response to changes in focus and settings allows for a quick turnaround.
