One Click Water Determination - Flexible, Simple & Secure. The all-round Karl Fischer titrator is the flexible and powerful instrument for fast and precise water determination of samples from any industry with a water content between 100 ppm and 100%. Karl Fischer titration is used for many substances as a reference method, and is a chemical analysis based on the oxidation of sulfur dioxide by iodine in a methanolic hydroxide solution. In principle, the following chemical reaction takes place:
H2O + I2 + SO2 + CH3OH + 3RN -> [RNH]SO4CH3 + 2[RNH]I
The titration can be performed volumetrically or coulometrically. In the volumetric method a Karl Fischer solution containing iodine is added until the first trace of excess iodine is present. The amount of iodine converted is determined from the burette volume of the iodine-containing Karl Fischer solution. Titration Compact devices can either be controlled by touchscreen or by using LabX PC software.

The Compact Volumetric Karl Fischer Titrators have been designed for a wide range of water content applications: determinations from 100 ppm to 100% water — fast and precisely. The titration vessel is optimized to retain a low drift value and offers the possibility to determine the water content of liquid, solid and gaseous samples.
The Fast and Most Precise Solution — for Very Low Water Content
Accuracy and precision is improved further if the titrant is not added with a burette, but produced directly in the solution with a current applied by a generator cell. This also makes a titrant concentration determination obsolete. The Compact coulometric Karl Fischer Titrators offer particularly fast and precise titration of samples with a low water content from 1 ppm to 5%. The titration vessel is made completely from glass which ensures a uniquely low drift and hence makes the most accurate and precise results possible.
Diaphragm less Cell — for More Convenience
The user has the choice of current generator cell with or without diaphragm. For most samples the cell without diaphragm offers more convenience, as no catholyte is needed. Due to the unique design, the diaphragm less cell even suits the demands for very precise low water content determinations.
Solvent Manger — Prevents You from Chemical Contact
Users are protected against contact with chemicals using the Solvent Manager liquid handling device. It is fully controlled by the titrator and offers solvent exchange at One Click without additional user interaction. Operation is very simple and user contact with chemicals is avoided.
Elegant Automation — for Many Kinds of Samples
Gas phase extraction is the perfect solution for samples that are unable to be directly added into the titration vessel. In this process samples are placed into a sample boat or vial and moved to the oven or sample rack.
