As the quirky, intelligent laboratory scientist, I present to you the Hewlett Packard 5972A Mass Selective Detector designed for use with the HP 5890 Series II Gas Chromatograph (GC). This unit features a stand-alone capillary GC detector, monolithic hyperbolic quartz quadrupole mass filter, high efficiency electron impact ion source, quick-change electron multiplier and a reliable vacuum system. Sold AS/IS, it powers on but has no lights indicating it works. We were unable to test it. This detector is salvaged and best suited for the curious minds in the laboratory.
