The Affymetrix GeneChip System GCS3000 is a comprehensive microarray analysis suite, consisting of a probe/gene microarray, hybridization oven, fluidics station, computer workstation, and a 16-bit sophisticated opto-mechanical confocal scanner. This system is used for gene expression analysis, genotyping, and resequencing applications. The perfect match probes measure gene expression while the mismatch probes help determine background and nonspecific hybridization. The system's fluidics station is fully automated, carrying out washing and staining of probe arrays. The scanner efficiently measures fluorescence intensity emitted by the labeled cRNA/cDNA. The GCS3000 offers high-quality, solid-state 532nm Diode-Pumped, Frequency Doubled Nd:YAG Green Laser, delivering an excitation spot size of 3.5 um, capable of detecting as few as 400 phycoerythrin molecules in a 20 x 20 um probe site.
